Lash Extensions FAQ

What are eyelash extensions?

Lash extensions are synthetic fibers that we attach to each of your natural lashes. They feel like a normal eyelashes but enhance what you have, giving you a fuller and longer look.

How long will a set of eyelash extensions last?

The natural growth cycle of your own eyelashes directly influences the longevity of your eyelash extensions. Refills should be required every 2 to 3 weeks but this does depending on your daily facial cleansing routine and physical activity.

What lash extensions do you use?

After 4-months of research, development and production, working directly with a world leading manufacturer, we introduced our Lash Lovers Lash Extensions in the Fall 2020. We focused on four areas to improve the quality of our lash extensions product: Weight, Adherence, Variety and Application ease.

Our new lashes are lighter, adhere better and last longer, come in more varieties and are easier to work with. We only use Lash Lovers Lash Extensions in our services. They come in a broad range of varieties to offer guests the opportunity to have their style customized to their eye shape and preferred styles.

  • Curl: CC, D

  • Diameters: 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.15

  • Lengths: 8mm to 15mm in most varieties

  • Options: Flat Lash options vs traditional spherical

Is mascara still required?

Augmenting your natural lashes with extensions elevates your lashes to a point that mascara is generally longer necessary. However, a water-based mascara can be used for those that would still like to add a touch more lift.

Do I have to stop exercising once I have eyelash extensions?

The first 48 hours after having eyelash extensions are the most important. We ask that you avoid sports and recreation activities that cause you to sweat, and especially those taking place in humid conditions. Examples include but are not limited to swimming, showering, visits to spas and saunas, tanning. After the initial 48 hours you can return to your regular routine as the lash adhesive will be fully secure. It is still advised however to steer clear of high temperature and humidity saunas as they can loosen the adhesive bond prematurely. Learn more about eyelash extension aftercare.

When can I wash my face after having eyelash extensions?

The ideal time to wait before washing your face and wetting your eyelash extensions is 48 hours. The lash adhesive needs that time to bond securely.

How frequent do you see adhesive reactions?

Allergic reactions to eyelash extensions are very rare and unlikely, but they do happen. A reaction normally occurs within the first 72 hours post service and can include symptoms such as redness, swelling on the lid and itching. The severity of reaction differs drastically, from very mild and brief itchiness, all the way up to swelling, soreness and redness. It can be very uncomfortable and unfortunately, if you have reacted in the past to eyelash extensions, it is very likely you will react again.

What causes adhesive reactions?

Allergic reactions to lash extensions is caused by an allergy to the main ingredient in the eyelash extension glue called cyancrylate. It is in every eyelash extension adhesive and it’s actually a reaction to the fumes released by the glue, not the glue touching your skin (because at good lash salons the glue should never touch your skin).

MYTH: Eyelash extension reactions are caused because formaldehyde is in the glue. This is simply not true. We only use the highest-quality adhesives and ones that are fast-drying with low fumes. The only two ingredients are Cyonacrylate and Black Pigment.

Can you do a Lash Test to see if I will react?

Yes we can certainly try, however some clients will not show any reaction to the patch test but once the extensions are applied they can still react once a full set of lashes have been applied.

Can I get a refund if I have an allergic reaction?
